When you get an email from Bob, Outlook asks your local copy of Teams what Bobs status is and puts the coloured jelly bean next to Bobs name, based on what Teams says.
This works fine on windows 7 with outlook 2010. If I send out an email to 5 people, then all of them will have a skype status in outlook except mine and it will come as presence unknown.
This is helpful when you'd like to have a real-time conversation, but are unable to conduct it in a face-to-face setting. Only the sender of the email will have presence unknown and a blank status icon. You can instant message anyone else at UWM in the Outlook on the Weblication, if you are both signed into the IM.
